Question: I load and unload trucks for a living. I was sweeping out a trailer that I had just finished unloading. Before I was done cleaning the truck driver pulled away from the dock and I fell between the trailer and the dock. It was like a trap door opening without even knowing. I live and work in RI. I have been to a ER already for medical treatment. I’m not sure what steps to take now or how to go about this.
Answer: Workers compensation is in place for your injury. First, your employer should have reported it to their carrier. However, if they did not you should get legal help. You are entitled to have your medical bills paid and any time out of work reimbursed.
